One of the main reasons that I have not updated my blog for so long, is because my Mum went to hospital in the middle of January. Although what she went in with was not life threatening, it seems that she became very ill over the course of 24 hours. Sadly she passed away on 25th February. Due to the fact that I was about to have my operation which had already been cancelled once and also that there had just been an infection on the ward. I was told by my consultant that I could not go on the ward. I could not risk having my operation cancelled again. If anything, I owe it to my loved ones to get well.
My four daughters were with her when she passed away which was comforting for my Mum.
It has been hard to write this blog, but I realise that I have to do so.
One positive thing is that myself and my four daughters have become even closer than we were before.
I am now the head of the Harper family and this gives me even more reason to stay alive.
I will be updating my blog in the next few days.

Very moving piece, which must have been very hard to write. So sad you couldn’t see your Mum at the end, but of course she would have wanted you to look after your own health first. Your courage is inspirational Doug. X
Thank you Angie
